Koinonia
Information on Koinonia
Group Leaders:
Mike and Julie Strauss &
Frank and Tammy Wesnidge
Group meets at 10:50 in
Fellowship Center West (downstairs in west hallway)
Koinonia:
We chose the name Koinonia to reflect the desire and makeup of our
class. The Greek word Koinonia can be translated several different
ways in the New Testament. It can be translated fellowship,
partnership, communion, sharing in common, and contributing. It
basically reflects the New Testament ideas of fulfilling the "one
another's" of Scripture. Simply stated, our goal would be: To meet
one another's needs through sharing and contributing, thus
glorifying our God. The Koinonia class is made up of all ages.
During this time frame, a typical Sunday would see the members of
our class involved in fellowship with snacks, teaching from the Word, sharing and prayer.
Teaching:
The Koinonia Adult Fellowship group is beginning
a new Bible study, "Living on the Edge", a look at the life of
Nehemiah led by Mike Strauss. If you are looking for a place to
connect with other adults from about age forty and older, we invite
you to visit this class during the 10:50 hour in Fellowship Center
West.
Community Groups:
The Koinonia Family has 7 community groups that meet twice monthly.
There are a variety of groups, from marriage studies to family
groups. The main focus for the community groups is a
time of fellowship and prayer to meet one another's needs.
Please contact Scott or Diane Hodgson (hodgson5@att.net)
for more information about becoming a part of a community group
within the Koinonia class.
Ministry to the body:
As leaders of the Koinonia class, Mike, Julie, Frank and Tammy, are
committed to serving in the Church body. The class participates in
several All-Church functions, such as Perfect swing and Angel Tree.
Outreach activities such as food baskets and missionary support are
other areas we enjoy serving in as well.
For Fun (fellowships):
The Koinonian's have a lot of fun at our fellowships. We have 3-4
large gatherings a year. We do a Valentine progressive party in
February, a picnic w/games in the summer and a fall activity.
We vary our social activities to include
families, couples, men and women.
Acts 2:42
"They devoted themselves to the apostles'
teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer."
