Information on Young Couples &
Families
Group Leaders:
Stan and Cheryl Schuermann & Tim and Ann Riley
Group meets at 10:50 am in Fellowship Center East.
The Homebuilders Fellowship began
8 years ago as a fellowship for
engaged couples. Since that time we have grown to include more than
40 couples and the definition of “Young Couples
and Families” has expanded
[matured] to include not only engaged and recently married couples
but couples who are starting their families.
MEETING TIME
Homebuilders meets each Sunday morning in
Fellowship Center East. We
gather for refreshments and fellowship from
10:50-11:00. From
11:00-11:55 we investigate and discuss the scriptures together
combining teaching with “break out” discussion groups.
Our recent studies have included “His Needs-Her Needs”, Ephesians,
Romans, as well as topical studies on the church, practical
evangelism, communication and current events. We even took a look at
some significant events from the “60’s” in order to understand how
they have influenced our current cultural philosophy.
GIFTS AND MINISTRIES
God has graced our fellowship with an abundance of spiritual gifts.
We continue to find avenues for these gifted individuals to bless
our fellowship, whether through service, administrations, helping,
pastoring or teaching.
Individuals within the class are also involved in many ministries
within the body of Wildwood including:
Worship team
Leading, teaching and working in our Children’s ministries
Teaching and helping in our AWANA ministry
Church Mowing and Maintenance
Service Projects
OUTREACH
Several of our couples are involved with evangelistic ministries
such as Campus Crusade for Christ and Student Mobilization. Our
class partners in prayer with a missionary family in Eastern Europe
and sponsors an Angel Tree family in Norman. Periodic service
projects are planned for people with needs in our community. Some of
these projects have included house painting, yard work, and other
home repair needs.
ADDITIONAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR FELLOWSHIP AND OUTREACH
1.Parenting Group – Periodic sessions to study and discuss parenting
related topics.
2.Supper Clubs – An opportunity for 3-4 couples to meet and spend
time in fellowship with one another. Each month the supper is
hosted, on a rotating basis, at the home of one of the couples.
Always a fun time to connect with others and share hospitality.
3.Swim Days – Always a favorite during the summertime. The ladies
gather weekly for an afternoon of pool time and kids are welcomed.
In addition to these “regular” events, our class enjoys Girl’s Night
Out, Date Night, Night at the Ballpark, Sunday lunches, Recipe
Exchanges, Cookie Exchange, Baby Showers, Craft Days, Football watch
parties, camping trips, fishing trips and service projects. Several
of the men enjoy hunting together.
